What is Desktopstudios?
Basicaily, we're a production company. At least, that's what I tell people who are interested enough to ask. And although there have been creative partners in the past, this site really functions as a place to showcase the work that I do. Stuff that I consider to be "good enough to see the light of day".
Alright then, who the hell are you, and what do you do?
I'm a freelancer in the film and TV industry. I live in Brooklyn, and work in New York City. Production companies typically hire me as Editor, Director, and Cinematogapher- sometimes all at once, if you can believe it.
Really? What's that like?
Feels like I ran away and joined the Circus. Not the heavily regulated ones that we have today, but the old-fashioned Carnival-style gigs where the freaks of nature are not only the genuine article, but some of them even sign your paycheck.
Sounds intersting. Just how did you get your start?
I have a great anecdote about how my father introduced me to photography at a young age, but that sounds so blah, blah, blah. The real interesting story is about my cat, Woody. He's over 20 years old. Arthritic and near blind, the fact that he makes it to the litter box each day should be an inspiration to us all.
Cool. What are you working on now?
At the moment, I've got 2 documentaries and a music video in post-production. To borrow a metaphor from Woody Allen, being a NYC freelancer is much like a shark in the ocean. If you don't keep it moving, all you have is a dead shark.
I have a project that you might be interested in. How do I contact you?
I try to stay a private person, and I've told people as much. Truth is, I really love meeting new artists and potential collaborators. Send me your scripts, treatments or storyboards. including a 6-pack of Guinness and a bottle of Jameson will guarantee that your project gets the proper attention that it deserves.
